Transaction Support and Through-Life Asset Strategy for a Wind Farm in South America
2021-2022
Supporting the owner of an onshore wind farm, providing integrated technical, contractual and financial advisory to manage operational risk, restructure the O&M framework and prepare the asset for a potential divestment.
The engagement started with a comprehensive assessment of the existing SMA with the OEM, including performance review, service scope analysis and identification of cost and availability risk drivers. A full through-life financial model was developed, incorporating Remaining Useful Life (RUL) to 30 years and detailed projections of revenues, CAPEX, OPEX and fixed costs to support negotiation and valuation.
During the transaction phase, we provided technical support, including blade and drivetrain condition assessments, fleet-wide WTG quality inspections and independent validation of technical assumptions. We also enabled the development of a local main shaft repair strategy and assessed O&M service quality to support scope and price renegotiation with the OEM.
Following the transaction, our role continued with the new owner, providing ongoing technical and contractual support, including on-site inspections, updated financial projections and Remaining Useful Life (RUL) assessments to support long-term strategic decision-making.
